Plenary Speakers
CANSEE 2007 is pleased to announce the following pleanery speakers.
Hazel Henderson - world renowned futurist, evolutionary economist, columnist, and founder of Ethical Markets Media.
Author of numerous books including Beyond Globalization and the Calvert-Henderson Quality of Life Indicators, and
recipient of numerous awards, including the 1996 Global Citizen Award which she shared with Nobelist A. Perez Esquivel
of Argentina.
Charles Perrings - Professor of Environmental Economics at Arizona State University
and past President of the International Society for Ecological Economics. In addition to joint appointments in
the Global Institute of Sustainability and the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, he is also Vice
Chair of the Scientific Committee of Diversitas, an international program of biodiversity science.
William Rees - Professor at University of British Columbia’s School of Community and
Regional Planning, he is a founding member and past president of CANSEE. Best known as the originator of ecological
footprint analysis, he is a Fellow of the Post-Carbon Institute, a Founding Fellow of the One Earth Initiative and
in 2006 he was elected to the Royal Society of Canada.
